Reveal!

Here it is:

My Dad had given Ross and I an old beaten up mirror a little while back and I thought I could make it into something. I wish I would have taken a before picture, it was literally falling apart. We spray painted it about two months ago and never got around to finishing it up. I got the cork board and chalk board paint at Micheal's and it all just came together.

We love how it turned out. The wall in our Kitchen was pretty bare.

Puerto Rican Patterns

I've been meaning to blog about our honeymoon since I made the blog but haven't gotten around to it. To be honest, we took ALOT of pictures while we were there and I just couldn't bare to pick my favorites to put up here.

I love them all!

But I figured I would buckle down and just do it! So we left for Puerto Rico the day after we got married on a very early flight. And arrived there around 4ish and we were all set to stay until the following Friday. For us full time workers - that is a GOOD feeling :) We loved...

Yea we ate alot, what of it? Don't judge, we were in Puerto Freakin Rico!

Note: During this trip I ate, for the first time, at Fuddruckers and Pizza Uno. Sad that I've never been to either of those in the US. They also had chocolate lucky charms, which we ate for breakfast pretty much everyday. We haven't found them since being home. :( Anyways, continuing........

And the Weather -

It was HOTTTT there. I would say it like a million times a day. Ross would count everytime I did, like- there's one, there's two....but whatever, it was scorching and we loved it. It was sunny for most of the day and rained every afternoon around lunch time. Like RAINED and there was lightning and thunder and wind. It was great! We'd go get lunch and then go back to the beach or just walk around and explore.

We got to go to an Art Museum -

And to Old San Juan.

And we went snorkeling one day, which we both loved. Saw a stingray which was really scary. All and all it was a great week and we have many memories from it.

What I really wanted to Blog for, not only to share some photos from our special time there, but to show off the amazing iron and pattern work that exists there. I think I seriously died of amazment everytime I saw a different house and I'm sure Ross was getting sick of me asking for him to take pictures of them.

It was beautiful, I was in awe from it. We took so many pictures, it's been hard to choose. Here are our favorites:

C-O-R you going to the Mall today?

So we've been CRAZY busy this week. My job I don't think could get more crazy, time consuming, or annoying (I'm sure I'll blog about my job later) and I've been trying to set up stuff for school, which starts next week. Ross started this week, so he's been trying to get settled in. I wanted to start singing the Billy Madison "Back to School" song to him on his first day but he had never seen the movie. We rented it last night so I could recite lines from it when I see fit.

Putting our Сумасшедший (Russian word for crazy - thought I was using the word too much but it really does describe right now) lives aside, we wanted to blog about our new couch (hence the title).

Ross and I had been looking for a new couch for a little while now, this is what was at the

apartment for a few months. (so sad)

We had one in mind that we were going to buy but I saw this the other day while shopping with my sister Michelle. She had gone to Taft Furniture to pay off some of her living room set and I was looking around for the fun of it. (We weren't planning on buying anything new until we paid off a few other things) but I saw this couch that I knew Ross would love and it was over 50% percent off! I loved it. And when Ross saw it that same afternoon he loved it too. Enough to buy and pick it up the next day. Here's a few pictures of how it looks in our living room. :)

A special thanks to Ross' dad, who helped us move it in and to our craiglist buyer for taking our old couch. I'm starting to LOVE that website! (different blog, different day though)

We've been having fun putting little details together. Let us know what you think so far! Now off to make some dinner :)

Pizza Stone

Just wanted to write a little blog about some pizza we made the other day. Ross and I got a new pizza stone for the wedding from a co-worker of mine and we wanted to try it out because neither of us had ever used one. And yes, we had to look up directions.

1. Put stone in the oven as your preheating.

2. Do not let it cool down too fast.

The pizza was AMAZing!

Just as a side note: I've gained all the weight I lost for the wedding back :)

A Scumptulecent Garden

What better way to start off a blog about the creation of our marriage and our particular styles then by posting a little something about where we got married. http://www.yaddo.org/garden/

Yaddo was literally beautiful. We really couldn't have found anywhere more remarkable (other than a Temple of course : ) to get married. It fit us perfectly and it was cheap, easy, and so stress and drama free. Just the way we to try to make things.

A quick background on the actual garden:

Spencer and Katrina Trask bought the estate in 1881. He wanted to build a garden for his wife to represent romance and creativity, so he built this garden. Their mansion burnt down not long after that, so they went on to build their official mansion, which was completed in 1893. They had four children who all died before they did so they gave their estate, upon their death, to establish a center for the Arts. It's now used as an artists' retreat where they can go and get inspiration.

A quick background on how we found it:

Ross and I had looked EVERYWHERE and were having no luck! We wanted the wedding to be held on a beach but couldn't find any that were up to par. So after a long day of searching and driving everywhere I finally said we should look at Yaddo. I kept bugging Ross about how I really wanted to go there, even before we got engaged because I had heard they were really nice but Ross had gone before but it had been in the late fall, early winter so it wasn't anywhere near as beautiful as it is in the summer. So he didn't think it would be that great. So long story short we went anyways and found this : )

So we fell in love with it and I had him call the next day to check details and we both prayed that it would be:

1. Cheap enough

2. Available.

Ross called me at work at 9:10 the next morning (it had opened at 9) to tell me that it was $1000 (Way over our budget) and booked until next year. After a mini heart attack and a huge sigh which was about to be followed by tears, my husband to be told me he was joking and that it was very reasonably priced and it was all booked. (I punched him later and told him no more jokes until after the wedding) : )

My favorite part of the garden was the sundial. Spencer had a poem inscribed by his good friend Henry Van Dyke.
