5 Dolla.....

I love thrifting now. It's a bit ridiculous. I told Ross that I wanted to start buying stuff, fixing it up and selling it and he said I have to wait until we have a house so we have room for all this "stuff". We'll see :)

We drive by a thrift shop everyday at least once and I kept seeing this chair that I loved. Obviously it was gross and old but I liked the shape and style. I explained to Ross that I see beauty in ugly things. So we bought it, after some convincing. It ended up only being 5 dollars. :) Even better.

Before:

So we went to work.

We took the cushions off and sanded the whole thing. (we bought a new sander :)

I knew I wanted it for our dining room so I picked a darker stain.

-Lowe's Ebony ($4.59)

Then Ross cut all the "nasty" fabric off and I removed all the staples.

Then we had to recover them with the new fabric.

I love a natural linen.

-Hobby Lobby ($2.99 for a yard)

The last part was to put Polyurethane on it.

-Krylon Clear Polyurethane ($4.99)

We played outside while it dried. :)

Here's the after:

Total Cost: Around $18.00 :)

I found my life's calling.

Happy Sunday!

Bag Pipes...

Did you know that if you ask a bagpiper to teach you how to play, they are obligated to by the bagpipe code of laws?

Fascinating. :)

So I "graduated" last weekend. I say that because I have one more class that I'm taking right now and then I'll actually be done. So technically I'm an August graduate - but I was able to walk in May. So I WILL have an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Hudson Valley Community College (Yes, that is the college that Obama went to recently to promote two year colleges, no big deal)

My dad was able to come down to see me, along with my sisters. My husband was obviously there :) and my best friend decided to come along - Layla. :) It was a great day. Boiling but great.

Walking across the stage

:)

Layla and I

Chad and the boys came later on for some food. We also got to spend the afternoon with Ross' family.

Sleeping. :)

It was a great day, I'm glad I had family and friends to spend it with.

Have a great Memorial Day!

Jade Plant....

So we had a fun morning yesterday. Lets have fun with pictures shall we.

I usually bring Medved out around 6 o'clock in the morning. This consists of me throwing on a hoodie and some rainboots and begging him to hurry up the whole time. We come back in, I feed him and give him water and then usually try to sleep for another hour or so before I have to get up to get ready. I USUALLY let him just stay in our room (making sure that everything is off the floor and the closet door is closed) but lately he would just fall asleep on the tile in front of our front door and sleep until I poke my head out of my bedroom to check on him. He's usually very harmless. So I didn't think much of it.

As you can tell - I used the word usually quite a few times in this post.

I woke up to this yesterday.

No, that is not poo. I thought that too at first. But then, upon seeing the destroyed Jade plant in the middle of the floor, knew what happened.

The dirt covered culprit.

Once he realized I was documenting this event, he decided to pose.

I called it - "Please rub my belly and remember how cute I am at this moment"

So the day consisted of a bath for the pups, some vacuuming (which made it worse actually) and shampooing the whole apartment. You can still kinda see the spot but only if you knew it was there in the first place. So if you come over, don't judge.

Sunburst...

I was talking to my husband about the sunburst mirror we have in our living room, yesterday. About the amazing deal we got for it and how much I love it.

Fast forward to today: I was looking at this Blog.

(For the record: Alice Lane - I love you, despite the fact that I will not be buying anything from you for a while)

ANYWAYYSS - I saw this mirror that they have for sale.

Retail: $375

My Mirror :)

Target - Retail: $24.99

Pretty much the only difference I see is $350.

Fabric....

So I literally almost died the other day when I went into that fabric store. It was amazing. It reminded me of what I hope heaven will feel like. (a little) They had a ton of goodies but I'm having a hard time choosing. (me, not being able to make a decision? Never lol)

This is what I'm loving so far:

Raid

Chevron

Greek Key

Trellis

ikat

Pelagos

Hard to choose right?

Tell me about it.

Taking a walk with the Best Friend tonight with the furball - Excited. :)

The Bench....

Growing up we always had a bench at our dining room table.
An old wooden one, that was painted a few different colors throughout
the years. We (my siblings and I) hated this bench. We would fight over
who got to sit in the chairs that lined the other side of the table.
The only reason I had thought about this, this morning is because I
actually want to have a table with a bench now. Every blog I read or
magaizine I open - there's a beautiful table with a beautiful bench to match.

A few of my favorite examples:

Maybe one day our kids will be fighting over who gets to sit in the
chairs too. :)

I love day dreaming of how our house will look one day. We already
look forward to the day when we can redo light fixtures, don't have
to worry about playing music too loud, or having a big back yard for
Med to run around in.

Dinner Tray....

So it's been pretty dull around here lately. We're getting ready for Finals and waiting for summer to get here already. We've been trying to house train Puppy but he's still having a hard time with it. He's getting better though!

A few new things:

I FINALLY got my hair cut. It was long, VERY long overdue.

We did have a fun find the other day at TJMaxx. Good ol' TJ - gotta love that place. It's a tray, wood : ) of course, but it seems kinda bambooish. I loved the colors.

(Sorry for the craptastic pictures, been raining all day AND I don't know how to use a camera)

Tray - $30.00
Chinese food we ate on it the first night - $15.00
Being able to convince your husband to buy anything that has to do with wood, bamboo, or recycling - $priceless. : )

Here's Medved - Soaking up the little sun we have today. Isn't he a cutie?!

Well I found an amazing discount designer fabric shop down the street from me in Latham. They are closed due to it being Easter weekend, but I'm def gonna stop by next week and check them out. MAYBE (fingers crossed) I'll find the right fabric to make my eversoneeded (I made that word up) curtains for my living room : )

Wish me luck!

Have a great Easter weekend!!
